On Fridays, we normally try to spotlight one of our many Elizabeth or Jersey City Physical Therapy success stories. Our hope is that in seeing the amazing things that can be accomplished with Physical Therapy, that more people would see Physical Therapy the way that we do: that maintaining an active lifestyle is the way to a healthier, better life.
But today, I was forwarded this story and I had to share this with all our readers as the ULTIMATE success story. I was just moved and utterly floored to see the journey of Jimmy Choi, a man who has not let Parkinson’s Disease define who he is, but has instead used the disease to inspire others by showing them what can be truly possible if you take that first step.
Take a look for yourselves.
The fact that Jimmy was able to to progress as far as he did through the course, especially considering that that other athletes, many in their physical prime, are unable to even make it past the first obstacle, is the most inspirational thing I’ve seen in some time.
And although we don’t have a Ninja Warrior course in our Physical Therapy clinics, I believe that the amazing work that we’re able to accomplish with the LSVT BIG program in our Physical Therapy clinics is just as helpful to our patients. The movements and motions required have been proven to help Parkinson’s Disease patients regain parts of their life back that many thought would be lost forever. But we’d never be able to help our patient’s if they themselves didn’t first make that decision to come in and try the program out in Physical Therapy. It’s not easy, by any means, and not yet that well known, as we are still the first, and currently the only, Physical Therapy clinics to offer the program in Jersey City and Elizabeth, NJ, but the results are absolutely undeniable. We’ve seen it ourselves and we’ll soon be putting up some of our own stories from our own patients.
Until then, I say we all take Jimmy Choi’s words to heart
“The hardest step is that first step. Once you take that first step, the rest of it comes easy.”
