With summer in full swing, flip flop season has truly begun! Just like barbeques, the beach, and hanging out by the pool, wearing flip flops has been common during the summer for their ease of use and breathability during these hotter months. But along with the increase in flip flop usage comes an increase in foot pain cases in our physical therapy clinics in Elizabeth and Jersey City. Why? It all boils down to one question:
Are your flip flops giving you enough support?
One of the main issues we all have is finding something that is good for our feet that we can wear during the warmer periods. The majority of people actually do require some level in of support in their footwear in order to walk around without causing pain problems. With regular shoes and athletic sneakers, it’s pretty easy to find a good, supportive pair.
Unfortunately, most flip flops are flat and offer no arch support whatsoever, which can lead to stress and strain on the feet. And it’s not just the feet that are affected. Flat, unsupportive flip flops cause problems that start in the foot but can also cause knee, hip, and back pain problems as well. Suddenly, you’re now experiencing pain during the times that you just want to be enjoying the summer weather.
If I can’t wear those flat flip flops, then what can I wear??? Well… how about Archies Support Flip Flops! I’ve personally been wearing them for months now, and I must say, they are the best flip flops I’ve EVER worn!
What are Archies Support Thongs?
Archies have been designed by an Australian physical therapist and have been designed to address those poor features we get from a traditional flat flip flop. Podiatrists, in particular, are finding that these are perfect for their patients when they are not wearing their orthotics, all while giving their patients a break from their shoes and some much-needed fresh air while still giving them substantial support.
Benefits of Archies Support Flip Flops
REAL Orthotic / Arch Support
Archies have inbuilt arch support, designed to help support your feet and improve your foot posture. Suitable for high and low arched foot types. The inbuilt arch support and the soft durable foam, provides a great feel under foot making them unbelievably comfortable. They’re perfect to wear to the beach, around the home, and out walking.
Elevated Heel
Regular flip flops offer no heel support whatsoever, and are normally available only with flat walking surfaces. This is just not suitable for the vast majority of people. With Archies Flip Flops, the elevated heel offers better foot and lower leg support, reducing fatigue and pain overall.
Ultra-Light
Unlike a lot of arch support flip flops, they are less cumbersome and heavy. The foam material in Archies makes them nice and light, so you have comfortable feet all day long.
Tighter Strap
One of the major problems with flip flops revolves around bad strap design. Many flip flop straps are not tight enough, with too much space between the strap and the top of the foot causing the flip flop to shift around too much. This leads to the wearer bending their toes, or “toe-grabbing”, just to be able to walk properly, causing pain over time. Archies’ strap design reduces the risk of toe clawing with a tighter fit, and enables you to walk more naturally.
