I am very proud to announce that I am gearing up to run my first marathon, the United Airlines NYC Half Marathon on Sunday, March 19, 2017 !
After spending a long, 17+ year career in Physical Therapy training runners, I’m ready to go and try my hand at running a marathon myself! As I go through the whole process of training for this, my very first race, I will be documenting my progress weekly.
As a first time marathon runner, I hope that by chronicling my progress and setbacks during my training, I can give a very realistic picture of what it’s REALLY like to train for your first race. And as I’ve seen firsthand as a Physical Therapist in training runners, it’s a lot more than just following a schedule on a piece of paper. You have to have perseverance and the ability to progress while taking into account how to train around your everyday life. In my case, I have to find time to sufficiently train around treating patients every day as a Physical Therapist while making time for regular life, namely my 4 beautiful kids. To say this is going to be challenging is an understatement.
But even still, this is a new and great challenge for 2017 that I can’t wait to start tackling. Happy New Year indeed!
