Complete Physical Rehabilitation Debuts NASA-Based Treadmill

Physical Therapy Group Introduces The AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill® in Clinics

Elizabeth, Jersey City, NJ –February 19, 2014 – Complete Physical Rehabilitation today announced that the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill, the world’s first and only treadmill using NASA based anti-gravity technology, has been installed to help patients in their short-term physical therapy rehabilitation and long term training/wellness programs.  They become the first private physical therapy group to provide the technology in Elizabeth and Jersey City, as well as the first in all of Hudson County.

“I love walking on it,” says Ina Davis, a current patient who prefers the AlterG treadmill.  “I (had) back surgery.  And when I’m on this treadmill there’s no pressure on the (back) area or on my legs.  When I use the other treadmill, I’m standing on all my weight; I feel a lot of pain.  But with this one, it’s a miracle.  There’s no pain, really.”

Adopted initially by nationally renowned hospital and rehabilitation facilities, the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill has recently become a popular training tool among professional athletes including Kobe Bryant, who used an AlterG to rehab from injury this past summer.  Private physical therapy facilities are now seeing the benefits the AlterG can provide for their patients.

According to co-owner Dr. Asha Koshy, “I knew from the moment I used the treadmill myself that this technology was going to help our patients get even better physical therapy results and help them improve more efficiently.  It has already garnered amazing results in the clinic and we’re happy to be providing it to the Elizabeth and Jersey City communities.”

With the AlterG, patients can run and walk without bearing their entire weight, reducing the impact on the body to optimize physical therapy outcomes.  Its Differential Air Pressure (DAP) technology applies a lifting force to the body that reduces weight on the lower extremities and allows precise unweighting – up to 80% of a person’s body weight, so people can find exactly where the pain stops and natural movement feels good again.

In addition, The AlterG and provides a new, exciting tool for training and wellness programs.   “Being that we’re sports specialists focusing on treating and training runners, the AlterG has proved to be an invaluable tool,” says Dr. James Pumarada, co-owner and running specialist.  “We can really focus on training people how to run with correct form in order to minimize the possibility of injury or re-injury.”

Dr. Alberto Goldwaser, a current running patient of Dr. Pumarada, agrees.  “It’s easier to run the way I should run; to learn how to run well,” he says.  “On a regular treadmill, I’m feeling tired faster.  (Here) it’s easier.  I can run without the fear that I’m going to re-injure myself because I’m lighter.  I can take the steps the way I’m prescribed to take the steps.”

The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill is now available for physical therapy programs at Complete Physical Rehabilitation.  They are currently also offering discounted monthly membership specials for running training and weight loss programs for a limited time only.  For more info, visit www.cprnj.com.
